Biden Confirms His Dedication to Preserving Roe v. Wade in Federal Law
President Joe Biden has been busy cranking out executive orders since taking office, largely reversing Trump-era policies. He has also been busy reaffirming his commitment to stances that Obama took on various economic and social issues.
Sadly, one of the most recent reaffirmations we heard, but saw coming, was a commitment to enshrining Roe v. Wade into federal law – something former president Donald Trump fought hard to obliterate.
Friday marked the 48th anniversary of the controversial Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision that legalized abortions nationwide. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris issued a statement to mark the anniversary expressing their commitment to upholding the SCOTUS decision that has taken tens of millions of unborn lives since its ruling.
A section from the joint statement issued by Biden and Harris read, "In the past four years, reproductive health, including the right to choose, has been under relentless and extreme attack. We are deeply committed to making sure everyone has access to care – including reproductive health care – regardless of income, race, zip code, health insurance status, or immigration status.”
It continued, "The Biden-Harris Administration is committed to codifying Roe v. Wade and appointing judges that respect foundational precedents like Roe.”
