Biden Reverses Trump Program that Sought to Remove Sex Offenders Living in U.S. Illegally
The Biden administration recently cancelled a Trump administration program designed to remove convicted sex offenders living in the U.S. illegally.
The dismantling of Operation Talon is another step in Biden’s chief mission to undo everything the Trump administration had successfully done during its tenure in office – even if they’re positive.
According to ABC 4 News, South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, along with 18 other states’ attorneys, formed an alliance to urge the current administration to rethink its cancelling of Operation Talon.
Wilson told ABC, “We’re working hard to fight human trafficking and sex crimes in South Carolina and allowing convicted sex offenders who are here illegally to remain in our country makes absolutely no sense. These trafficking and sex crimes are repugnant to human decency generally and to children specifically.”
In their letter directed to Joe Biden, Acting Director of ICE Tae Johnson, and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, the attorneys argued that cancelling the program is a terrible idea and could encourage sexual predators to repeatedly offend.
The letter states, “The United States’ population of illegal immigrants includes disturbingly large numbers of criminals with prior convictions for sexual crimes. According to data collected by Syracuse University’s Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse, during the period from October 2014 to May 2018 ICE arrested 19,572 illegal aliens with criminal convictions for whom the most serious prior conviction was a conviction for a sex-related offense.”
The letter continues, “Meanwhile, an increasing number of illegal aliens are entering the United States after having been previously convicted of sexual offenses. The cancellation of [Operation Talon] effectively broadcasts to the world that the United States is now a sanctuary jurisdiction for sexual predators. This message creates a perverse incentive for foreign sexual predators to seek to enter the United States illegally and assault more victims, both in the process of unlawful migration and after they arrive. It will also broadcast the message to other criminal aliens who have committed other offenses that any kind of robust enforcement against them is unlikely.”
The Biden administration wants to undo a bunch of things the previous administration enacted to cement its legacy, and we get it, most administrations do, but when you’re undoing policies, programs and advancements that have absolutely no signs of partisanship in them such as Operation Talon, you’re really just being an imbecile.
The reversal of the Keystone XL Pipeline killed off thousands of jobs and incomes but can be construed as a partisan issue since Democrats are trying to do away with oil and gas and move toward green energy. But is ending the possibility of sex offenders repeating their heinous offenses, whether they’re illegal or not, a bipartisan issue? I would think it is.
Is it not a moral issue and something that should and must be done? I would think it is as well.
It’s disgusting to think that this current administration is reversing such an important operation purely out of spite for the Trump administration and because it deals with the removal of illegal immigrants, but it’s hard not to believe that this is exactly what it’s all about.
Get off your high horse, Joe, and do some good work for the people and not work out of spite for an administration that actually cared about the wellbeing and security of all Americans.
