COVID Vaccine Being Given to Gitmo Detainees Before General U.S. Population Under Biden Pentagon

Fox News has reported that Republicans in Congress are reacting with anger in response to a plan by the Pentagon to give vaccines to the 40 Guantanamo Bay detainees, including 9/11 terrorist attack ringleader Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, before a majority of the American population.

Representative Elise Stefanik (R-NY) said on Saturday, "It is inexcusable and un-American that President Biden is choosing to prioritize vaccinations for convicted terrorists in Gitmo over vulnerable American seniors or veterans.”

The order enabling this disgraceful action was signed on January 27th by Terry Adirim, the principal deputy assistant secretary of defense for health affairs who was sworn in on Biden’s Inauguration Day, according to the New York Post. According to Fox, “a lack of vaccinations has reportedly made it difficult for federal prosecutors to move forward with war crimes hearings at the base.”

According to the New York Times, the federal prosecutor trying a case against five Gitmo inmates serving time for allegedly conspiring in the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center, Clayton Trivett, Jr., told defense lawyers "an official in the Pentagon just signed a memo approving the delivery of the COVID-19 vaccine to the detainee population in Guantanamo.”

A Pentagon spokesman told the New York Post that the vaccine “will be administered on a voluntary basis and in accordance with the department’s priority distribution plan.”

At this time, it is still unclear about how many detainees at Gitmo are infected with the virus, if any at all, but vaccinations for healthcare workers and troops stationed at the base began on January 8th.

Representative Dan Bishop (R-NC) tweeted his view on the order. "Nothing says #unity like letting the 9/11 mastermind & Gitmo detainees skip in front of millions of Americans for the COVID #vaccine.”

Rightfully so, 9/11 first responders are angered by the Biden Pentagon’s announcement.

The New York City fire commissioner during 9/11, Tom Von Essen, told the New York Post “You can’t make this up. The ridiculousness of what we get from our government. They will run the vaccine down to those lowlifes at Guantanamo Bay before every resident of the United States of America gets it…the theater of the absurd.”

In response to 9/11 ringleader Khalid Sheikh Mohammed getting the vaccine before most Americans, Von Essen said, “It’s f***ing nuts.”

Why yes, yes, it is. The Biden administration should be ashamed of itself, but we all knew it wouldn’t be an “America First” administration. We’re still trying to determine what “Build Back Better” means, because we still haven’t seen any sign of it.
