Doctor Tells Biden Admin. to Link COVID Vaccines to ‘Freedoms’

As various states begin to lift restrictions, CNN medical analyst and former Planned Parenthood president Dr. Leana Wen, encouraged the Biden administration to link vaccinations to ‘freedoms’ as the “narrow window” to immunize more people continues to close.

During a March 10 interview with CNN anchor Chris Cuomo, Wen said that the message must be clearly given to those weary about getting inoculated in “that the vaccine is the ticket to pre-pandemic life.”

Wen explained that she sees “the window to do that is really narrowing.” She continued, "You were mentioning, Chris, about how all these states are reopening. They're reopening at 100%. And we have a very narrow window to tie reopening policy to vaccination status."

She also explained:

Because otherwise, if everything is reopened, then what's the carrot going to be? How are we going to incentivize people to actually get the vaccine? So that's why I think the CDC and the Biden administration needs to come out a lot bolder and say, "If you are vaccinated, you can do all these things. Here are all these freedoms that you have." Because otherwise, people are going to go out and enjoy these freedoms anyway.

The doctor added, "I fear a situation of coming into the fall, where we never reach heard immunity, and then we get hit by the next surge of COVID-19…something that we could have prevented if we just got people vaccinated now."

Conservative co-host of “The View,” Meghan McCain, among others on either side of the political aisle, have expressed their skepticism of the current administration’s lack of transparency in terms of what those who are fully vaccinated can and cannot do.

During a February taping of “The View,” McCain said, "We're in the Biden administration and I, for one, would like something to look forward to and to hope for. Because if getting the vaccine means that just nothing changes and we have to wait another few years until everyone gets it – there's already people not getting it and we're already having a messaging problem getting people to take this vaccine."

CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky this week said that she’s “scared” of the “impending doom” regarding the rising number of those testing positive for the coronavirus. The doctor, who should never have a career in acting, said she was going to go off script to express her feelings…while clearly reading from a script. She suggested that “vaccinated people do not carry the virus,” but had to recently walk back her statement.

Dr. Walensky also made a proclamation that we’ve been hearing since the beginning of the pandemic; she urged us to "just hold on a little longer, get vaccinated when you can, so that all of those people that we all love will still be here when this pandemic ends."
